Mille Miglia, #614, DNF, Taruffi-Vandelli.
Taruffi started off at a tremendous pace and was easily the fastest car over the first 100 kilometres. After 300 kilometres Taruffi was 6th but shortly after Ravenne Taruffi passed Biondetti and Bracco, At Rome (580 miles) Taruffi was second, 5 min. behind Karl Kling  (Mercedes). For he second crossing of the Apennines Kling’s Mercedes had a useful lead over Taruffi who was delayed when refuelling. However Taruffi was reputed to know every inch of the mountain roads and was expected to reach Florence in the lead. However the 4.1 litre Ferrari packed up with engine trouble, leaving Bracco in the smaller Ferrari to challenge Kling.
